Venue
The School takes place at the European University Institute in Florence (Italy).
Requirements and eligibility
The School will accept a maximum of 20 participants, primarily nationals and residents of European as well as non-European Mediterranean countries.
Participants should have a strong research and/or professional background in the field of international migration in the Euro-Mediterranean area. Doctoral and post-doctoral researchers, as well as civil servants and professionals from intergovernmental and governmental agencies working in areas closely connected with migration issues are eligible.
Participants should have a good working knowledge (speaking and writing) of English and at least a basic working knowledge of French (listening and reading comprehension).
Students should attend the entire teaching part of the programme. No exceptions can be granted on this point.
Costs and scholarships
The School provides scholarships for 20 participants, covering their travel and accommodation costs. There is no tuition fee.
Travel
Travel costs of up to € 500 will be reimbursed to every participant. Reimbursement is made upon the presentation of the original train (second class), bus and/or plane tickets (Apex economy). Costs of any other form of transport, local transport included, cannot be refunded.
Accommodation
Accommodation (including breakfast) will be provided for every participant for the period from 21 June to 04 July June 2009. No arrangements for earlier arrivals or later departures can be made. No changes to the accommodation provided can be made.
Medical insurance
The School does not provide medical insurance and can not cover medical fees.
Participants are advised to purchase international medical insurance in their home country before leaving.

- 15 April 2009: Deadline for receipt of applications
- 01 May 2009: Notification of applicants
- 21 June 2009: Arrival in Florence
- 22 June 2009: School begins
- 03 July 2009: School ends
- 04 July 2009: Departure from Florence
- 30 September 2009: Deadline for essay submission
- 30 November 2009: Deadline for essay evaluations by the Scientific Committee
- 15 December 2009: Award of certificates
How to apply
Applications, in English or French, should be submitted exclusively through the online application form by 15 April 2009. Only complete applications, including a CV, the names and contact details of two referees and a statement of motivation will be accepted.
