The database contains statistics on migration originated from, destined to, or transiting through the countries of the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean (SEM) and Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) (hereafter “the Region”). Statistics are on the one side those collected in countries of the Region on immigration to and emigration from these countries, and on the other side statistics relating to SEM and SSA emigrants that are collected in their countries of destination outside the Region.
A standardised list of 70 tables on flows (arrivals and departures of migrants and asylum seekers, naturalisation, movements on labour markets, circulation of students, money transfers, etc.) and stocks (migrant populations distributed by specific variables, refugees, etc.) applies to all countries, whether in the Region or in other parts of the world. Tables are missing when appropriate data are not available in national statistics.
Notes provide analyses and syntheses derived from data contained in the database. Graphs and maps highlight the most salient features and trends of migration to, from or through the Region.
