(2) Algeria: First estimates of the population census of 2008. According to other Estimates (Musette, CREAD), the number would have reached 325000 if refugees, irregular migrants and other categories of non-counted migrants are added to the census figure.

(3) Israel: Central Bureau of Statistics 2007. Population estimates do not include the foreign workers population. This population is estimated at about 195 thousand persons at the end of 2007

(4) Official statistics do not make a distinction between Jordanian and Palestinian origins. Palestinian second and third generation refugees are included in the figure provided by the UN.

(5) Lebanon: according to several sources 500.000 Syrian workers would be temporary migrants in Lebanon not counted as immigrants.

(6) Libya: Source: population census, 2006. There is a substantial discrepancy between data from the Libyan census on foreigners in Libya and those indicated by the consulates of SEM countries about their nationals abroad. For comparison, please refer to data in tables 3 for selected SEM countries.

In 2007, Foreign-Born Palestinian Population in the Remaining West Bank is 125.581 of which 17.502 born in 1948 Areas and 5.764 in Israel (Census 2007, Census Final Results in The West Bank)
