The CARIM thematic session on 'Gender and Migration' was held in Florence from 18th to 19th October, with an opening dinner on 17th October. Around 70 participants attended this Session which brought together more than 45 experts from the SEM and SSA countries as well as keynote speakers and discussants to examine preliminary data and findings on key factors determining the relationship between gender and migration in the region.
This session was aimed at examining and discussing the data and the preliminary conclusions on the key factors determining gender migration in the Region. Different high-level personalities took part in the CARIM Meeting; among the others His Excellence Guelengdouksia Ouaidou, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of Chad; Aicha Belarbi, former Secretary of State at the Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Ministry in Morocco; and Mickael Kagan, Asylum Access.
